they lose intereset(forget their owner): you have to pet them, ride them, hand feed them every few days (based on level) or they will go wild. The new feeding structure increased the number of dino's i'd get because it reduced how much effort it takes to keep them.ġ. For example make them need more maintenance to keep. I think we need more game mechanics that realistically reduce the number of tamed dinos. Eventually people will tame more dinos and cap it again. They can increase the limit a little, and make abondoned dinos claimable, or increase eggs drop rate, but it would only temporarily fix it. I was planning to eventually have 5-10 of some dino types just for eggs and maybe killing bosses if they fix dino AI. TLDR: PvE servers' dinos need some kind of timer on dinos like structures so that they become wild or die after a certain period of inactivity of their owners.Įvery time I hit some sort of hard limit I lose a little interest in the game. Very small dinos with quick tame times could be the same as thatch, all the way up to rexes, brontos, and spinos matching metal structure timers. It could be a tiered system with the number of days of inactivity matching that of structures. If someone is inactive for a while, they should lose their dinos just like their structures can be demolished. So our precious taming slots are taken up by more and more dinos that no one is using and probably will never use again. I imagine some eventually starve to death, but carnivores have a habit of feeding themselves. Where this matters is players that play on our server for a week or so, collect a bunch of dinos, and then quit playing or move to another server. The problem is that we have no way to kill off dinos unless they belong to us. This taming cap issue is killing off the PvE playerbase. Most will return when this gets fixed, but some claimed that this was it. This means that not only are we unable to tame dinos in a game where everyone wants to tame dinos, but the community of my server is falling apart. Once people started to realize that they could no longer tame dinos, they started leaving quick.

Yesterday the server I play on (Official PvE 37) hit the cap.

Something needs to change on PvE servers, though, and soon.Īnd yes, I know there are other threads about this already, but this has been an issue for some servers for a while now, and we have yet to see any response from the devs on the matter (unless I missed it). For those that don't already know from the other threads that have been made, there is a cap on how many dinos can be tamed on each server, as there should be.
